New York Art Trip
One of the many new things on the itinerary this year will be a trip to Dia Beacon. The Dia Art Foundation opened its Beacon site in 2003 — in a 1929 brick Nabisco factory where cracker and cookie boxes had been printed — it is a must-see on the contemporary-art circuit. Dia Beacon is an 80-minute journey by train right along the banks of the Hudson River.
To be honest I love the journey as much as the art, both are spectacular. In the gallery we will see the most amazing collection of Agnes Martin paintings as well as all the big names of minimalist and post minimalist art. The special show on during our visit will be by Robert Irwin. After visiting the gallery students will have time to explore the small town of Beacon, which is advertised as the “hippest” small town in the Hudson Valley.
Theoretically that means the coffee should be drinkable! Jane Cocks tour leader.
