LaTrobe College offers the fully accredited 21885vic Diploma of Visual Arts. Two streams are offered - the Fine Art stream and the Art & Design stream. These streams will enable students to undertake a mixture of art & design units as part of their visal arts or to concentrate purely on fine art .
Students completing only part of their course will be issued with a Certificate of Attainment.
DIPLOMA OF FINE ART
(21885Vic Diploma of Visual Arts - 2 Years)
This course is the nationally recognised and state accredited 21885VIC Diploma of Visual Arts. Students study both practical and theoretical subjects in studio, painting methods & techniques, sculpture, drawing, modernism & contemporary art history & theory, photography and digital media and design. Students are encouraged to pursue individual directions whilst learning a range of both technical and theoretical strategies. Through small class sizes, concentrated one-on-one teaching, exposure to leading artists and exhibitions, students gain intensive individual nurturing enabling them to rapidly develop their creative direction and identify their own independent fine art practice.
Along with fully equipped digital and art studios the course is further enhanced with the annual New York Art Trip, exhibiting practice with the LaTrobe Street Gallery, drawing and studio projects in regional Victoria held at the Union Bank Art Centre in Clunes, and individual studio spaces at our nearby studios Queensberry Street Studios.

DIPLOMA OF ART & DESIGN

This course is the nationally requognised state accredited 21885VIC Diploma of Visual Arts. In this course students will be introduced to and learn to apply a wide range of key conceptual and practical skills enabling them to develop visual art and design studio work in a range disciplines from drawing, digital
imaging & graphics, painting, digital and print design, sculpture and studio methods & techniques. The course aims to give students a broad range of experience within visual art and design in order to; Assist them in finding and determining their ultimate career direction and the most appropriate discipline to study. To help them develop an extensive and competitive folio of varied artwork specifically for university and college entrance interviews. Through small group classes and ongoing tutorial advice, gain intensive individual
nurturing and help to develop ideas and direction. Experience using the college gallery for special projects and for displaying work in group exhibitions. The folio artwork created in this course will enable students to be extremely
competitive at tertiary interviews for all Visual Art and Design uni courses.

HOW TO APPLY
Contact the college on (613) 9606 0933 or by email admin@ltrobecollege.com.au to check availability of course places.
Complete and return the Application Form (telephone or email the college for a form if you dont have one or download it from the college web site). The deadline for Course Applications is generally one month before the start of semester. If there still places available Applications will be accepted after this time.
Attend an interview/ information session with examples of your artwork or details of your past experience. Overseas students can do this by email/telephone. Students will be advised of the outcome during the interview and if successful they will be sent a Letter of Offer.
A students place in the course is confirmed once the college receives the students
Acceptance Agreement Form (attached to the Letter of Offer) and payment of fees.
Please be aware that subjects and courses at LaTrobe College are popular and fill quickly.
For overseas students please ask to see the International Student Information Kit prior to making an application. Once the college recieves the signed Acceptance Agreement Form and fees they will be issued with a COEwhich they will need in order to apply for their student visa.

WHO CAN APPLY
Participants are generally from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds. No prior experience is needed. New students to art are encouraged to apply. Completion of year 12 is preferred but not essential. Consideration will be given the basis of previous artwork done or other experience or study.
