CERTIFICATE OF ART AND DESIGN 6mths

In this course students will be introduced to a range of visual art and design disciplines and ideas, exploring and learning creative and technical skills. Students will cover digital imaging, painting methods & techniques, design and graphics fundamentals, and studio art practice. With intensive individual nurturing they will begin to develop their own work and discover which disciplines, mediums and approaches inspire them most. The work produced will enable them to decide their direction within the multitude of career options offered in visual art & design. The work will also provide a solid basis for folio work essential for university and college entrance interviews. Students are able to continue onto the Diploma of Art & Design to extend their work and fully complete their folio.

Subjects: Multimedia Imaging and Graphics, Studio Art, Design Communication, and Studio Painting Methods and Techniques .

DIPLOMA OF ART AND DESIGN 1yr

In this course students will be introduced to and learn to apply a wide range of key conceptual and practical skills enabling them to develop visual art and design studio work in a range disciplines from drawing, digital imaging & graphics, painting, digital and print design, sculpture and studio methods & techniques. The course aims to give students a broad range of experience within visual art and design. To assist them to find and determine their ultimate career direction and the most appropriate discipline to study. To help them develop an extensive and competitive folio of varied artwork specifically for university and college entrance interviews. through small group classes and ongoing tutorial advice gain intensive individual nurturing and help to develop ideas and direction. Experience using the college gallery for special projects and for displaying work in group exhibitions. The folio artwork created in this course will enable people to be extremely competitive at tertiary interviews for all Visual Art and Design uni courses.

CERTIFICATE OF FINE ART 6mths

The Certificate of Fine Art enables students to gain a thorough practical and theoretical introduction to visual art, whether it be in painting, drawing or sculpture. The student will be taught contemporary and traditional skills and techniques and under supervision with positive advice and support of existing interests and ideas begin to initiate a personal direction in art.

Subjects: Drawing & Mixed Media 1, Studio Painting Methods & Tech 1, Studio Art 1, Art History 1 (Alternative subject may be taken instead of Studio Painting Methods & Techniques).

DIPLOMA OF FINE ART 1 yr

The Diploma of Fine Art is a comprehensive foundation course in visual art. teaching students a range of contemporary and traditional techniques, skills and ideas in their chosen discipline area of painting, drawing, sculpture, installation art or digital art. Students will be given individual direction, receive ongoing advice and begin to shape a personal direction in art. This course will enable students to begin to shape their ideas and concerns and provide a platform for more serious development of their art. This course is the ideal development program for further university study or further studio development.

Subjects: Drawing & Mixed Media I & II, Studio Painting Methods & Tech I & II, Studio Art I & II, Art History I & II (Some subjects maybe exchanged for others to suit the needs of the applicant)

ADVANCED DIPLOMA OF FINE ART 2 yrs

In the Advanced Diploma of Fine Art students will learn how to research and further develop their ideas, methods and interests in order to consolidate their individual practice. It will help students to develop the conceptual, aesthetic and material components of their work and also begin preparing them for an understanding the professional side of the artist and the art-world.

Prerequisite: Completion of Diploma of Fine Art

Subjects: Studio Practice I - II, Drawing & Ideas I & II, Galleries Exhibiting Practice, Contemporary Art Theory, Elective from Sculpture or Adv Methods or Digital Media.

Please Return by post, fax or directly to the college. For Single Subjects there are no application deadlines. Please be aware that subjects and courses at Latrobe College are popular and will fill quickly. The deadline for Course Applications is one month before classes/courses start. Applications will be accepted after those dates if there are still places available. Interviews are not compulsory but recommended for those still to determine their area of interest. Apply directly to the college, not through VTAC.

WHO CAN ENROL

No experience is necessary. Participants are generally from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds.
