DIPLOMA OF VISUAL ART
21885VIC Diploma of Visual Art,
Students successfully completing only part of their course will be issued with a Certificate of Attainment.
2 Years Full-Time and equivalent Part-Time
This course is the nationally recognised and state accredited 21885VIC Diploma of Visual Art. Students study both practical and theoretical subjects in studio, painting methods & techniques, sculpture, drawing, modernism & contemporary art history & theory, photography and digital media and design. Students are encouraged to pursue individual directions whilst learning a range of both technical and theoretical strategies. Through small class sizes, concentrated one-on-one teaching, exposure to leading artists and exhibitions, students gain intensive individual nurturing enabling them to rapidly develop their creative direction and identify their own independent fine art practice.
Along with fully equipped digital and art studios the course is further enhanced with the annual New York Art or Venice Biennale Tour, exhibiting practice with the LaTrobe Street Gallery, drawing and studio projects in regional Victoria held at the Union Bank Art Centre in Clunes, and individual studio spaces at our nearby studios Queensberry Street Studios.

Digital Imaging, Photography A, Sculpture & Installation, Studio Development A
Year Two:
Drawing & Ideas C & D, Studio Practice C & D, Studio Development B & C
Photography B, Galleries & Exhibition Practice, Advanced Painting Methods C & D.
Electives:
Students have the choice of selecting design subjects in place of certain subjects above. These are: Design Communication, Graphic Design, and Studio Design

WHO CAN APPLY
New or inexperienced students are encouraged to apply. Applications are open to both year 12, non year 12 and mature applicants. All prospective students are asked to attend an interview with a folio or examples of their artwork or details other past experience. Applications are through VTAC between August 1 and December 9 (International students overseas can apply directly to the college through email) After December 9 applicants can apply directly to LaTrobe College. HOW TO APPLY
Students apply through VTAC (until December 9th. Apply directly to the college after this date)
1. Go to the VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre) website (www.vtac.edu.au) register your details and receive an ID and PIN.
2. Apply for The Diploma of Visual Art at LaTrobe College of Art & Design.
3. Contact LaTrobe College by phone 03 9606 0933 and arrange to meet the coordinator with your folio or examples of your work or details of past experience.
4. Application Deadlines:
Applications - 1 Aug - 30 Sep (5pm)
Late Applications - 30 Sep (7pm) - 11 Nov (5pm)
Very Late Applications 11 Nov (7pm) - 9 Dec (5pm)
After Dec 9 apply directly to LaTrobe College
(There is no official closing date for applications, but course availability may be limited after the end of January).
5. Offers will be sent to students by VTAC on November 25th and January 16.
With Direct Applications students will be adfvised during their interview.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATIONS
International Students (except NZ citizens) apply directly to the college. Contact the college by email or phone +613 9606 0933 advising that you wish to apply for the course. An application can be made here: Click Here to apply Examples of your artwork can be sent by email. The Coordinator will reply to your application and send you an Information Kit about the course and living in Melbourne. Students will need 5.5 IELTS test score for English or equivelent if English is their second language. On acceptance to the course the college will send you a Letter Of Offer. A students place in the course is confirmed and a COE is issued once the college receives back from the student the Acceptance Agreement Form (attached to the Letter of Offer) and payment of fees. International Students completing Year 12 in Australia should apply to LaTrobe College through VTAC. International students studying under Student Visa can only enrol as a full-time student.
